Our Story

The Triggerfish Cookshop, in the heart of Dublin's Blackrock Village, is dedicated to beautiful but functional cookware, kitchenware & tableware that inspires great meals.

Our focus is on quality, function and design. We have a revolving range of products from around the culinary globe to match each season, giving a platform to Irish designers and artisans where possible. You will also find your kitchen staples, pots and pans, bakeware, glassware, storage, cooks tools, gadgets, cook books and chef knives. All of our products have been thoughtfully procured, and tested for their durability and performance by us.

The Triggerfish Cookshop has something to offer at-home chefs, cooks, food enthusiasts, and industry professionals. The bakers are catered to here, as are the dinner party entertainers, the Sunday roasters, BBQ dads, healthy eaters or the gift buyers who want to make someone’s day with a useful and beautiful gift. We also offer a personalised wedding registry service to brighten up the homes of newlyweds. There will be food events, talks, book signings, live demonstrations and knife sharpening tutorials in store. You can subscribe to our mailing list for details of upcoming events, as well as recipes and seasonal inspiration.

You will find The Triggerfish Cookshop in the heart of Blackrock village at 2b Main St, (next door to the Organic Supermarket).

The store design:
Dublin based DUA Architects designed the concept behind The Triggerfish Cookshop. DUA, which stands for ‘Design, Urbanism, Architecture’ are gaining a strong reputation for interior design and were recently selected for Wallpaper's 2017 Architecture Directory as one of the 'World's Best Young Architectural Talents'. For the store, they have brought together their trademark combination of attractive materials and attention to detail, using perspectives of timber and steel to draw the customer into the space, focusing the eye on the products on display, with a subtle nod to the triggerfish. Their previous award winning work includes Bear Market Coffee, also in Blackrock.

About the owner:

The Triggerfish Cookshop is an independent Irish-owned business headed up by Dubliner - Bob Toal, a passionate at-home cook who has spent years crisscrossing the globe, picking up on food cultures, cooking styles and eating trends. After 12 years working as a lobbyist in London, he has now returned home to pursue this venture of bringing the quality products he’s discovered along the way to the Irish market. His adventures in the culinary hot spots of Japan, China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, Lebanon and Peru have inspired him. Closer to home, he is a huge fan of Mediterranean cooking, especially Greek and Italian.  Bob loves to talk food, grow his own and cook for friends and family, all with a pinch of salt and is now delighted to be following his dream of working with the best cookware brands in the world.
